See Kate Middleton Kick a Soccer Ball in Heels Like a Pro

A dress and some heels won’t stop the Duchess of Cambridge from getting sporty.

Prince William and Duchess Kate finished off their day in Cambridgeshire by meeting with local business and community members at the city’s first Cambridgeshire County Day, held at the Newmarket July Racecourse.

Photos from their visit show Kate kicking a soccer ball on grass — even while wearing a pair of espadrille wedges and a lavender chiffon dress from LK Bennett.

The couple had a jam-packed morning that involved appearances at the University of Cambridge’s Fitzwilliam Museum, East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices, and housing charity Jimmy’s. Their last event of the day celebrates Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee and showcases 120 exhibitors from the county’s various businesses and charities.

Earlier, Kate and Will kicked off their busy agenda by attending the unveiling of their first official joint portrait, painted by artist Jamie Coreth and commissioned by the Cambridgeshire Royal Portrait Fund. Coreth took inspiration for the artwork from an appearance the couple made during a 2020 visit to Ireland.

“I wanted to show Their Royal Highnesses in a manner where they appeared both relaxed and approachable, as well as elegant and dignified,” the artist explained in a statement. “As it is the first portrait to depict them together, and specifically during their time as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, I wanted the image to evoke a feeling of balance between their public and private lives. The piece was commissioned as a gift for the people of Cambridgeshire, and I hope they will enjoy it as much as I have enjoyed creating it. ”
